As with all groups or clubs we are run by a committee but always for the members they have the final say in all decisions it is their society we follow their requests as much as possible
We are the Seaton Terrace Golf Society (STGS) based in the town of Seaton Delaval 10miles from Newcastle on Tyne. We started some 15years ago with 12 members and have now had to apply a maximum of 30 members.
We meet at the local CIU club every 2nd Tuesday of the month to discuss the last venue and the next one and any other matters that may arise.We select the venues for the summer season in Feb about 1 game a month 2 in mid summer, winter venues are picked in Sept, 4 games from Nov to Feb (weather permitting) all games are played stableford with 1st,2nd getting a trophy and a share of the sweep, nearest the pins, longest-drive and 2's also get ££££.
We also have a trip away during the summer which is usually in Scotland the home of golf and late night drinking (Hee Hee) this is played over 36 holes on Friday, 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday with the best stableford total winning the trophy and a share of the sweep, 2nd also gets a share with the winners from each game sharing the rest, 2's nearest the pins are also ££££ winners. We only have 16 places so there is a waiting list
We also try to play other golf-societies with teams of 12 on a u-pick we-pick the course basis it is good to play other people not just the same faces
To join we require an application form to be filled in ( available from behind the bar ) to be eligible to win a venue you must have entered 3 cards in to the secretary for a handicap to be allocated. If you are already a member of a golf club you would start on 7 less than your official club handicap.
